Put away the flour

2020 has been a heck of a year so far.

The tendering world has thankfully continued, but many organisations have experienced delays in receiving a tender outcome (I hear you, as if we needed to wait any longer than usual) and/or the release of a new tender opportunity.

Although we have all admittedly filled this waiting period and the usual commute time with mastering the home coffee machine and artisan baking, as we come out of the COVID cocoon there are a few activities we can undertake to hit the ground running.

Review recent tenders you submitted. Whilst we have done a great job so far to crush the curve, the need for things like social distancing and additional hygiene on job sites and places of work will remain in place. Are there COVID safe operating procedures that you may need to consider to support the proposed implementation plans of your recent bids? Are there any resourcing changes within your organisation that may have an impact on your ability to meet implementation deadlines that you will need to discuss with your client?

Refresh your tender library. It is a good time to ensure your organisation has current and correct content on file. Pulling together documents including organisational background, service offerings, organisational structures, images, insurance certificates and CVs are all time consuming during the tender period. With a few tender release delays this year so far and a Government focus on job creation as part of the Recovery Plan, we may experience mass tender releases and shorter turnaround times. Get ahead now to save time later.

Reflect and redefine your business. Although we are nearly halfway through the 2020 calendar year, as we regroup and slowly return to the office, a strategy session to redefine organisational goals and consider potential new lines of business could be well timed.

Happy bidding!
